We invite students aged 13-18 who are new to the Ali Roberts Studio to enrol in the Screen Acting 1 workshop. This workshop is a prerequisite for all other classes. This jam-packed, fun experience allows students to make new friendships whilst building confidence. The workshop allows us to get to know each student’s individual abilities and make sure they will integrate comfortably and confidently into weekly classes.

ACTORS WILL

• Learn self-taping techniques for professional auditions
• Build screen acting techniques for Film & TV
• ​Create community through improvisation
• Begin their voice & accent journey with US Standard
  

AND

• Get the opportunity to chat industry with successful Ali Roberts Studio Alumni who have worked in local, national and international productions in Film & TV!

Parents and Guardians are invited to a showcase performance on the last day.​

A workshop to sharpen up your self-taping skills and prepare you to submit professional standard self tapes for auditions.

On Set Filming Workshop: 

A practical experience that familiarises actors with the workings of a film set, including etiquette, communication, and performance under real conditions.

During the workshop, actors will film a scene with a professional film crew on a real set. You will be allocated a scene during the rehearsal process.

Actors will:

• • Play a lead character in a professionally shot scene
  • Film with a professional crew
  • Learn on-screen acting techniques
  • Experience what it is like being directed

Showreel Filming Workshop: 

A further intensified practical experience that familiarises actors with the workings of a film set, including etiquette, communication, and performance under real conditions with the director of an Industry Guest Director.

During the workshop, actors will film a scene with a professional film crew on a real set. You will be allocated a scene during the rehearsal process.

Actors will:

• • Work on a professional set with a Guest Director
  • Play a lead character in a professionally shot scene
  • Film with a professional crew
  • Learn on-screen acting techniques
  • Be provided a space to practice and develop your screen acting knowledge and skills
  • Receive an edited version of your scene for your casting profiles

A sleep-away camp that allows actors to experience filming on location with a professional cast and crew.

During the workshop, actors will film a Short Film with a professional film crew on a location set. More details are provided once cast.

2-Week US Accent Short Course for 16+: 

An intensive short course training US General Accent running for 6 hours over 2 x 3-hour classes. You will tape a US self-tape in the second session. Price includes self-tape edit and Vimeo storage.
